Experience the wild after dark at Creatures of the Night, a unique guided evening walk in the Clarens Nature Reserve led by two of South Africa’s
leading wildlife experts – Jeanne Tarrant, the beloved “frog lady,” and Peter Taylor, our very own “batman.” Aliza le Roux will help you hunt down signs of
small carnivores. Pick up and return point is Adventure Square, where a minibus will take all participants to the conservancy entrance. Over 1.5-2 hours, you’ll stroll to the reserve’s dam beneath the glow of the full moon, discovering the incredible nocturnal life of the eastern Free State.
Expect to hear and see a rich variety of frogs and bats, as well as other fascinating night-time creatures such as owls, genets, and perhaps even the elusive serval. With spring bringing warm evenings and heightened animal activity, it’s the perfect time to explore nature after sunset.
This family-friendly experience ties in beautifully with the Festival of Lights, offering an enchanting outing for all ages – part education, part adventure,
and entirely memorable. Tickets are limited, so don’t miss your chance to uncover the secrets of the night!
Dress warmly, bring a torch/headlamp and remember to wear proper footwear.
