“You are not a drop in the ocean. You are the entire ocean in a drop.”
The words are widely attributed to Rumi, the 13th-century Persian poet, and they are the heart of this evening: an invitation to slow down and remember how much lives inside a single life, and how deeply our lives are woven together. This is a one-night-only experience, and festival founders Rogier and François invite you personally. Only 50 guests will share it, and the evening is built around connection: to each other, to the land, and to something larger than ourselves.
It begins in Clarens, where you will be transported to Sandstone Gorge Estate, just outside Clarens. There’s champagne as the sun goes down. As darkness settles, you’ll be guided to the estate’s central dam. On the water float 108 golden orbs, each one glowing softly, each one representing a single life. Together the floating orbs symbolize a constellation on the water, a web of light connecting us to one another.
From the dam, the walk continues into the night, past sandstone formations older than memory, picked out in light. It ends on a private deck high above Clarens, where blues artist Smoke J. Lawrence plays an exclusive concert for you and your fellow guests alone, with the glowing town spread out below.
When the last note fades, your transport is waiting to take you home. Fifty places. One night only. Reserve your tickets before they’re gone.
